I'm back today with the third post about the first issue of Mina, a magazine in NFT to promote the work of women artists.
Today I share with you a text I wrote about the Russian photographer and artist Tania Morozova, who is currently dedicated to printing photographs in monotype.
Tania's work is so sensitive and inspiring that it even encouraged me to do a collaboration with the artist. Recently she printed two of my photos in monotype and I have already talked about this collab here.
I leave below the text I wrote from the interview with Tania and the pages of the magazine.
The girl in the monotypes
Born in Saint-Petesburg, Russia, the artist Tania Morozona, 30 years, got her first contact with art as a child and continued drawing along her life until graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, when she became a professional artist.
Multidisciplinary, Tania works with different techniques, such as etching. "Now I’m focused on printing my own photography with the monotype technique, using oil color and paper. I make a monochrome digital print, push a color over it and use the etching tool to print a monotype with its random textures," details her process.
The images worked and printed by Tania are basically self-portraits or photos made of her friends. Often, she poses for some photographer friends and later uses these images to produce the monotype prints. Tania also works in collaboration with the photographer Anna Belousova and for their projects they photograph each other.
Tania's photos are delicate and powerful at the same time. Scenes and elements from nature are always present in her work. "I’ve always loved to escape into nature, it makes me really complete. It's a kind of meditation to record the various natural forms." Among her favorite subjects to photograph are herbs, the sea, and the human body. "I like to take different parts of nature, because they are always different."
Her biggest references are masters of painting like the Dutch Johannes Vermeer or the Italian Raphael, also some Russian classics painters like Ivan Shishkin and Natalia Goncharova, and contemporary artists such as the Russian collective AES+f (composed by Tatiana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovich, Evgeny Svyatsky and Vladimir Friedkes), and the photographer Maisie Cousins.
Currently, in addition to selling her works as NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), Tania works full-time as a freelance artist, as illustrator. "There are tough seasons, but I usually pick up good opportunities doing murals. I do illustrations for different companies and sometimes I also sell my art in galleries."
About the world of NFTs, Tania believes it’s a new era of collecting art and building a huge international community of creators and collectors. "And I just wanted to be part of it."
The artist says that having people liking and supporting her work is really inspiring. "I think I’m very introverted and for me it is quite difficult to promote my art, but I try to be more open and participate in group and solo exhibitions, also publishing my photography in indie magazines," she says. For Tania, her work can be defined as a contemporary vision of a mix between classical and natural plastics.
