We discovered a new local artist and in here you can see some of her works.
Did you know that ground squirrels eat flowers?
I am a nature man, meaning that nature runs in my blood, and when I see anything regarding nature, then I am hooked. It is like a carrot waved in front of a donkey's nose. A new lady has moved into the Haven Art Cafe, and as I passed her studio, I saw a small table with a display of the cards for sale. Surprise, surprise, as the cards all had paintings of wildlife on them.
I told my wife about what I had found, and she bought some of the cards, as they were very affordable. Then she met the artist and called me to also come and meet her, but I was due elsewhere and on the next day, we went there to her studio for me to ask for her permission to take photos of her work. She gladly agreed, and she wants me to send some of my bird photos to her, as she would like to also paint them.
Someone had ordered a bigger print of the squirrel with the flower (Tag picture), and I took this shot below in her studio of the bigger print.
Besides the bigger print of the squirrel, she also had an order for this one below. It is of a baby ground squirrel climbing up on the stalk to get to the flower.
And the photos below are on the cards that we bought.
This one is a baby ground squirrel that sat sleeping inside a flower.
Now what was that!
I often take a walk towards the back of the building, as it borders on a river that has big trees where I at times find raptor birds sitting on the top branches of the trees. Sadly, some of the old big trees had to be cut down, as they were infested by the plague of borer beetles that invaded our province.
As I rounded a corner, I saw this below. Can you see it? Totally out of place, and it looked like some kind of an arty head on the top of the stump.
So, I walked around the stump, and the head had a face.
Just look at this. It looked like a head of some kind of an Egyptian goddess.
No idea, and I don't know what the artist's motivation was to place a head on that stump. A piece of clay seemed to have fallen off from the head of the sculpture.
Art is art as they say, and art also has many purposes in this life. Some to reveal the inner self and others to present the beauty of their works. I see all artists as very talented, and it must be so great to draw and paint a lovely view, or any other object. Don't get me wrong, as I love art, but I have an inability to draw even if I wanted to. Yes, I have tried a few times with no luck so now I only adore the works of others.
My wife, however, can draw, and she wants to do cartoons about life. But she handles two jobs, Papillon's admin and her lecturing work. Maybe she will get to it one day, but not in the immediate future. I am good with my hands and during my long stay in the hospital when I was younger, I even built a model of the famous "Mayflower" ship which my son destroyed when he got his hands on to it. Lol.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
