As Halloween approaches, so does the colder weather. My family and I have still been enjoying our time out on the trails, out in nature 馃崅 Last week, we took some photos of our two daughters playing in the leaves, and we were left with beautiful memories from the experience 馃グ
I will start off by saying -- don't let the looming trees deceive you. Although all of the treetops in this spot were green, every other specimen fell susceptible to the cooler elements, and there was a bed of leaves on the ground. I'm not entirely sure of what trees they are, but if I had to wager a guess, I would say Aspen or Poplar.
Our girls had a great time in the leaves 馃槃 It truly makes one nostalgic for their own childhood. My sister and I used to love raking the leaves up into one big pile and jumping into them! 馃グ
Aside from the falling leaves, our girls have been growing anxious with anticipation as they wait for Halloween 馃巸 To be honest, my husband and I had some big discussions about the holiday, and we have decided that this will be the last year we celebrate as a family.
It was a big decision for us, myself especially, for Halloween used to be my favorite holiday to celebrate. But, as we grow stronger in our faith, I know that we are called to depart from this celebration. We agreed to this year because we had already been discussing costumes with our girls before becoming convicted in our faith.
We agreed on similar things for Christmas time as well. We will no longer participate in the societal traditions, like putting up a tree or Santa Claus, but we will still be honoring the reason for the holiday!
Anyway, back to the photoshoot 馃榿 Here is an example of the HUGE bed of leaves I was referring to! The entire forest floor was covered in them, and the girls had a wonderful time playing hide-n-seek. It was like witnessing the children鈥檚 version of Whack-A-Mole!
Seeing the two of them growing up together has truly warmed my heart... Again, I had an older sister of my own, and I see so many resemblances between our sisterhood and theirs. I hate when they fight; I hope they will have one another for the rest of their lives...
All in all, it was a beautiful day 鉂わ笍 The girls enjoyed themselves, we got some great photos, AND we found the perfect spot for my maternity photoshoot! 馃槃 We hope to visit here again soon, before all of the leaves have fallen...
