Steps to Reencounter

He may have left fragments of his air,
of her gasping breath,
remnants of thoughts
where there is no order to follow tears or laughter.

Hidden messages arrive
where a happiness is blurred,
that's why I walk in her footsteps,
looking for her gaze,
looking for a path,
a lost certainty that tells her story.

A drifting word may serve,
even if it's thrown among the leaves,
of paths to be made,
I search for her footsteps to smell her presence.

Distance and uncertainty,
that's all I have,
steps upon steps of my walk,
to follow a smile.

Trying to get to where we can look at each other,
that's the goal I've set for myself,
as an unprecedented presence,
to study those gestures where the sublime caress remained,
necessary footprint to step on that word
that reunites us,
conceives us in this nature,
where to look at us is to be reborn.
