The Collection
The Offer
Last year I was unemployed.
Because I was unemployed, the government mandated that I do a training program (an obvious scam that lead nowhere).
While on that program I met a few people who were into playing Magic: The Gathering, a collectable physical card game.
I saw one open a booster pack and check out their brand new cards.
"Have you heard of Splinterlands?" I asked hopefully.
"Uh, yeah." One of them replied, uncertain as to why I was asking.
I remember boasting that my Splinterlands collection was over $900 at the time.
"Oh yeah?" ther other answered.
There was a look I later realised was one of both scepticism and contempt.
I offered them my affiliate link, which they accepted but threw away later when they thought I wasn't looking.
It's always a shame when people can't see the true value of what they are being offered. Then again, I couldn't fully grasp the importance of Alpha cards or Gold foils until DEC or Dark Energy Crystals were introduced.
Fast forward to a month ago and my collection was worth $15,000.
Today it cracked the $50,000 mark and I haven't actually done a whole lot. This is just players buying cards and increasing the value of the existing card pool.
Who knows what my collection will look like a few months from now after the Chaos Legion booster pack expansion drops?
Rental Income
I use a website called Wallet Investor for it's convertor to Australian Dollars to see how much DEC is worth.
It's largely 1 cent AU per DEC give or take.
The screenshot above, from Peakmonsters.com shows I am getting 1846.208 DEC or $18.46AU per day by leasing out my cards to other players.
I try to be the cheapest on the market where possible.
Don't get me started on the SPS airdrop... I'll be here forever. Chuckle.
Until next time,
See you in the Splinterlands!
