It’s currently raining heavy now, to the point where it’s not worth going outside anywhere. The skies are a dark grey and it’s starting to get colder.
But the rain in Adelaide comes and goes in spurts, meaning it never rains too heavy for longer than 10 minutes or so.
This meant that I could eventually go outside and do some shopping. I also needed to use my umbrella, which got turned inside out a few times with by the wind.
I did have some good news in that before I left the house, I stepped on the scales to discover that I was 82.5kg!.
That’s a loss of 35.9kgs since I started my weight loss journey over 10 years ago. It’s been a slow process.
The rainy day allowed me to test a new water proof covering for my backpack and I must say it was quite impressive. It’s very portable as it just tucks back into its own attached pocket and into the one of the bag’s side pockets.
It’s smaller than my fist. It cost AU$40 which is an expensive initial outlay, but I am sure it will become priceless when it comes to protecting my precious paperwork (a recent downpour of rain had ruined some artwork that had put in my bag, unprotected!).
The rain cover will also be beneficial if I ever have a trip to England as it rains there quite a bit.
I ventured out to achieve two tasks:
The first was to check out the now infamously dreaded “middle aisle” of my local ALDI store. This “dread” is a cultural tongue-in-cheek joke.
Essentially, the “middle aisle” of an ALDI store has all sorts of appliances, gadgets, and seemingly practical objects (ranging from socks to powerbanks to electric scooters!!)
Various other supermarkets are doing this too.
The point of the joke is that you don’t go down the middle aisle if you are trying to save money. You WILL find something that you think you need, whether or not you actually need it.
I’ve found wallet tracking cards, wireless recharging ports and solar panels, which are all useful, but what I decided on getting was a wooden laptop holder with a drawer underneath to keep my desk tidy.
I also filled a trolley full of various cheap and healthy vegetables, beans, corn in cans which filled my now waterproof backpack.
Post Office Goodies
It turned out to be a novel that I had ordered a year and a half ago. The novel is called “A Dash Of Demon - Achewillow Book 1”
Achewillow is a fantasy / horror podcast that is in its ninth season and the book covers the first season.
Don’t worry, it’s not particularly scary and is more comedy than actual horror and the book has recipes of foods mentioned in the story.
That’s all for now, and the weather has been noticeably rain free for the last few days, so I am going to go outside
and enjoy what there is of the sun.
Thank you for reading,
have a great day.
