Hi all Hivers,

I took a look at the new player dashboard in Peakmonster, and I see a very low conversion rate of new registrations to Spellbook purchases.

Here is last month's figure: 42 spellbooks purchased out of 1817 new sign-ups, which is 2.31%

And here are the last 3 months' figures: 148 spellbooks purchased out of 6317 sign-ups ~ 2.34%. It's similar to last month's data

What if I look at 6 months' figure: 284 spellbooks purchased out of 15823 new sign-ups ~ 1.79%. What does it mean? That means the conversion rate increased by 30% in recent months, but it's still very low in my opinion.

So I have a question in my mind - WHAT STOPS NEW PLAYERS FROM PURCHASING THE SPELLBOOK?

I'm thinking of a few reasons as below

1. The game is too complicated

Yes, that's true. I have already played this game for 5 years, and I must admit that this game is far more complicated compared to 5 years ago. So new players can feel overwhelmed by all the formats, skills, rulesets, tokens, lands, ...

However, new players, you don't need to master everything in a short time; choose the parts of the game that suit you best and enjoy it.

For me, I love playing card games; finding the right strategy to beat a stronger opponent is what I enjoy the most. That's why I don't like the lands or wagons; because that's not really related to card games. So I made my choice; I don't enter this part of the game.

The same for you, new players, you can start easily by taking the 1st step in Frontier format, joining the guild, entering the Guild Brawl and experiencing Modern or Survival format. Please don't go too quickly when you're new to the game and your deck is not strong enough. This is the time for you to explore the game and find your strategy to win each battle :)

Just one additional point, you should join the Guild immediately after purchasing the Spellbook. After joining a guild, you can visit the Guild library and borrow the cards.

2. The Spellbook price is high

For a one-time cost of just $10, the Spellbook is bound to your account, granting you the power to:

  • Unlock the Full Hive Ecosystem: Your Summoner's Spellbook not only grants you access to Praetoria's full potential, but it also creates a fully verified Hive blockchain account. This account name is your digital identity, your wallet address and your username for all Hive dApps. Choose it wisely, for this name is permanent and cannot be changed. This is the key that enables you to truly own and control your assets, not just within Splinterlands but across the entire Hive ecosystem.

  • Full Marketplace Access: Your cards and packs from Frontier Mode and beyond can now be traded, sold, and transferred. Soulbound Reward cards, earned in Modern and Wild or purchased with Glint, can also be made tradable by paying an unbinding fee.

  • Access the Highest Ranks: Play in the advanced Modern, Wild and Survival modes, where the greatest legends are forged. Note that Wild mode requires a Wild Pass each season.

  • Enter Tournaments: The Spellbook is your key to participating in all Tournaments, where you can prove your skill and win grand prizes.

  • Earn SPS: You gain the right to earn SPS, Splinterlands' core utility and governance token.

  • Receive a Hero's Welcome: You'll be rewarded with 3,000 Credits (or 3,500 Credits with a referral), 5 Conclave Arcana Starter Packs, and a 30-day SPS battle rewards boost.

Following the above quote from Splinterlands, you can get 5 Conclave Arcana Starter Packs, which is 1000DEC per pack, and 3500 credits if you join the game with my referral link (an extra 500 credits, ~0.5 USD, compared with non-referral)

With it, you almost get back almost 6USD from the 10 USD you pay. And if you focus only on the Frontier/Modern/Survial format with the correct Bracket, you may break even in 1-2 months, depending on your luck with the extra cards.

I have a question for splinterlands@splinterlands . If my friend already has a Hive account but hasn't purchased a spellbook, is there any way for this existing account purchase the Spellbook with my referral?

If you register a new account using my link, I can delegate to you some cards and 1000SPS for one month to help you in the early stages of the game. Notify me after you purchase the Spellbook.
