Friday Update 22/7/22
It's Friday night and I am sitting on a chair in my kitchen, tapping away at the Ecency app on my phone. As a distraction while I corale my thoughts into a cohesive narrative for your eyeballs and inner dialogue, I am listening to Tom Baker reprise his role as the 4th regeneration of Doctor Who in a Big Finish Audio Drama.
The acting is superb and the production values are great if you ever get a chance to listen to them. It's a form of surrealist escapism of my choosing, as opposed to the surreal weirdness that plagues my real life.
This particular story is called The Dreams Of Avarice. Highly recommended.
At some point in the future, I might post about the surrealisitc stuff, but for now I need to journal it all offline to protect myself and the not-so-innocent. I really do crave the mundane.
My late lunch was from a trip back to the Pho Linh Vietnamese Restaurant. It had been a while and their renovations were finished. They even added this neon light display:
For lunch I had steamed dim sims as an entree and the , chicken and cashew nuts and their semi frozen Milo drink as part of their main course.
Asian dim sims look different to Australian ones that you get in fish and chip shops and don't taste as good in my opinion.
It must be the extra salt and fried flavour perhaps.
My internal joke is that the Asian dim sims are "brain food" (they are mainly pork, so you can make up your own mind in that regard) because of their wrinkled texture and appearance.
Milo is a popular, and healthier, alternative to chocolate when it's added to milk. You can have it hot or cold normally.
The chicken and cashews meal has chicken, cashews, onions, sliced carrot and broccoli.
Several months ago, I bought a small tomato growing kit as a spur of the moment sort of thing. I had never attempted any sort of gardening previously but I wanted just a small victory in my life after a rough patch.
Since then, I have bought several seed packets and have tried (and mostly failed) to grow different plants.
But I am proud that at least the first tomato plant I tried grew big enough to be transferred into a much bigger pot.
Another tomato plant is in a special planter box and is doing really well and is bigger than my first tomato plant already!
I discovered to my horror, an infection of fungus gnats brought in from the soil. I bought a heap of sticky traps which have been somewhat helpful, although the runners from the pea plants want to stick to them as well.
Neem oil, a potential treatment, is really expensive.
Cinnamon is supposed to be a good fungicide, but I haven't had much luck with it.
That's all for this entry, I hope you enjoyed it.
Tomorrow I am going to see a few stand up comedians.
Oh, and I have a comedy gig coming up. More on that in the future.
