Today is my day, my birthday. For some, it is the happiest day of the year, and it should be, and it is for me, even though some unpleasant things have happened to me a few days before my birthday.
Thirty years ago, two days before my birthday, I was diagnosed with Lupus. Back then, I didn't even know what it was or that it was an incurable disease. I was a child and behaved like other children, even though I couldn't do everything they could. I got tired quickly, I couldn't run, and I had to stop playing soccer and doing karate, which I had been training because the medications I was taking, corticosteroids and others, caused me to lose a lot of calcium, to prevent bone injuries and fractures. Because of this and hospital stays, I missed a good part of my childhood.
Later, when we moved from Zagreb to Vodice, 320 km away to the sea, I felt better due to the Mediterranean climate and the clean sea air. I often walked by the sea, more and more each day. Now, I can walk up to 6 km, with just one stop to rest a bit.
I finished high school here and got a security guard license for a hotel where I worked for 14 years. Now, I am in an even easier and more relaxed position in a camp, which is much more stress-free, just what I need.
Thank God for every day, and I will thank Him as long as I live because I barely made it then, so I got a chance for a new beginning, and I use every second of it, enjoying everything.
Once again, I only wish for happiness, health, and prosperity in life; everything else will come on its own.
I wish you a pleasant day, friends, and may God keep and bless you all.
