Let’s start today by a very important question. Who are we?

This simple question has the power to change our life. How do we see ourselves? Are we our name? our job? our appearance ? our talents? our life situation? our history?
Are we our thoughts? are we our emotions? are we our body? Who are we finally? It’s for each one of us to answer this question when one experiences the experience of being oneself.
I know it sounds mumbo jumbo but to be honest it’s so well phrased. Who we are is how one experiences oneself. And this process changes and never ends so who we are is our personal experience of being ourselves.
During this process I can guarantee you will realize what is false in you referring to behaviors that were inherited from your childhood, thoughts that are not yours but are results of fear and anger, feelings activated and released by those thoughts...

Yes, we are our body, our emotions, our mind ,our soul and something greater than that. We must have this holistic view of ourselves and make these parts talk to one another otherwise we feel incongruence and separation begins. We must have a holistic perspective of ourselves, of our universe and our position inside that universe. We know who we are but we have forgotten us. Shall we remember our true self? The only thing I can guarantee is that our true self is wise, knows what’s best for us, makes the right choices simply because it follows the gut feelings, is playful, funny, fearless and adventurous.
It feeds our emotions with love and compassion, kindness and warm heartedness towards our selves and the others. It feeds our mind with calm and relaxed thoughts detached from the preoccupation of the past or the future even though fully engaged in the present. It takes care of our body ad keeps it young and active. It nourishes our soul.
So ask yourself : How come we feel so miserable so often?
It’s because we play hide and seek all day with our real self and can never find it. One of the things we do and lose touch with our own self is that we lead an unconscious life. I mean we are not present. We act like robots. We play roles.

Stay still for a moment and re read this paragraph. Do not judge. Do not respond. Do not think. Just feel. You know you have a body and that is conscious. But do you honor your body? It doesn’t matter if you don’t. Just ask yourself that question. What do you do for your body? Can you write down the lovely things you did to it the last days? Ask yourself about your feelings. Are you able to laugh and show empathy for someone else when life is hard and you are hurt. Do not worry if the answers are no, just go on answering if you enjoy your passions, if there are any left and if you feel your heart pounding with excitement and when. Are there any trivial things that can make you laugh and feel happy? How about our thoughts. Do they keep coming uncontrollably and conquer you or are you capable of staying still for a moment and feel the grass under your naked toes, the water running on your body when you take a shower? Can you smell your food, taste it ? Can you hear the bird singing or the music playing on the cd player? That is so simple and that is exactly what we want to be able to do as time passes by. Start with your full attention for seconds, when you walk, you drive, you take the tube and slowly slowly you will be able to listen, to focus on what you choose to focus on, to be present , to experience your experiences without the interference of your mind. Polarities will eventually disappear and separation will give space to interconnectedness. Try this today, focus on the noise your fridge is doing and for seconds all other noises will disappear. That is the first step for not living unconsciously. It’s a challenging task but truly it’ s the key to a happier life.

Unconscious living, unconscious parenting, unconscious working, unconscious mode in relating that is what narrows and limits our core self, our real self. Do not try to find out who you are , who your authentic self is, that’s a bit difficult to spot right now but it’s easier to see what the influence of your mind has, what your body says, what your feelings are.
This is a moment to moment shift so do not expect any sudden changes. Each time you are aware of an element of your unconscious behavior a shift happens. Do not expect to be fully conscious , that is not possible just add some moments of consciousness in your daily routine and magic will appear because awareness precedes change!
