Endless Broken Versions
As there's more road behind than lay ahead,
And the weariness of experience bears down.
When all that is desired is a comfortable bed,
Swallowed by the dark following final sound.
Muscles relax after so many years pulled tight,
Last energy venting through invisible wounds.
No longer able to stand to put forward a fight,
A thousand homes reduced to a single room.
Each wall faced with a mirrored glass,
Bending upon themselves back endlessly.
All slightly different than the last,
A facet of one who lived needlessly.
In one of those faces looking back at me,
Was the one who was filled with potential.
But he was lost in the crowd of useless me,
Leaking opportunity until it was torrential.
A flood of life pouring down the drain,
Wasting and destroying chance after chance.
Little sunshine seen but plenty of rain,
Unable to hold ground let alone advance.
