Hail to the Hive!
I've had the benefit of being able to explore a good amount of the planet. Africa, USA, SE Asia, Europe, The Middle East but there's nowhere quite like England in the Spring.
Waking up this morning to that lovely spring glow and the sun deciding to finally put a shift in and flex some muscle I was just itching to get off the boat and have a little wander about. Plus it looks like the Swan wanted to say Hi to me as well. 'Hello Mr Swan!"
To give my wanderings a bit of purpose I looked to see where the closest Lidl supermarket was and low and behold there was one only 43 minutes away. Nice sunny day, 43 mins, nice surroundings with a beer at the end of the rainbow. Hell yeah!
And as walks to the supermarket go i have to say this ranks right up there with the walk to Aldi I did when we were moored in Wales at Llangollen. But this is Leicestershire, I grew up in Leicester and it fills me full of pride to see it looking so lush.
The stillness of the canal on a day like today is impossible not to photograph. Reflection paradise.
And as any of you that read any of my blogs you'll know I have a weird thing for bridges. I mean how can you not? Look at this cutie!
Before long I spied a lock and looked at where exactly I was on my phone map to see if this was the lock to use to cross over the canal.
Looking across the other side there certainly seems to be an obvious looking pathway, but was it the one to take.
Ah ha Mando says "This is the Way"
So across the lock and down the yellow looking pathway.
I look back at the lock and smile at the fact that we live on the canal. Traveling across country on our little Narrowboat badger and we have passed through this lock several times before. It looks almost hidden from view as it navigates its way across the countryside.
Hmmm this reminds me a bit of ' The Wizard of Oz' and follow it I shall.
At the end of the path it leads to another path but this time along the side of another field and I can see the houses of the town now which means i am nearly at my destination.
After all this Southern Leicestershire beauty i will spare you the cold looking supermarket buildings and leave you with my last glimpse of the countryside before I reach the end of this path and oam in the town. This will also be my return route with backpack full of goodies to take back to the boat.
