Hail to the Hive!
Our lives have altered considerably over the past year. Being a 2 boat floating household has significantly altered how we view life afloat and how we live it on a day to day basis. It has solved certain issues we faced living in a small floating space, posed new challenges with moving 2 boats at the same time, as well as repleninishing water and fuel for them both and opened up new opportunities for us. @millycf1976 in particular as she looked for a space to conduct her Qigong classes. Then there's the reality of fixing up the new boat and getting necessary jobs on the other, has hit hard. But I have no complaints. It's a challenge!
During the five plus years we have been narrowboat folk we have cultivated some very strong connections, one of which was with a boat yard that replaced an engine on our first boat ‘Badger’. They were the reason we came back to this area to help do some of the bigger jobs that we needed doing but it has also given us a temporary home base affording us safe haven to keep the boats at low cost while we go about getting the work done.
It's also quite a lovely spot, which is important as both myself and @millycf1976 are incredibly busy with our work schedules amd this makes the boat project slow work as it has to be done at a slow pace fitting in jobs when we have time to do them and when we can afford to get them done. It’s been both a juggling act and a test of patience at times but we are slowly getting some traction with it.
As I work from home the office views aren't too shabby either 😁
So if we have to stay put fpr a while this isn't a bad option as we still feel like we are ' on the canal' as opposed to being in some crammed marina full of people politics and petty dramas.
I guess I am kind of setting the scene, as it were, in this post as we are temporarily not on the move in the boats, and there's a lot that we are doing, getting done and plan to do, that I am eager to share with you and I now feel refreshed and energised enough to do so.
I mentioned in a post a few months back that doing a daily post was something I'd like to get back to, as I did during covid, as I felt it was very cathartic and so good for my head. A few Hivers commented on that and @daveks said to let him know when that would commence. Well I am ready now so bore you all I shall!! 😉.
I need to make the me time too and this is all part of that personal project as I am sure alot of you feel the same way about what you do also.
Please let me know your thoughts on these posts. I do love the interaction also.
Until tomorrow.....
