Hail to the Hive!

I know I know, I said i would be back posting daily and then I abscond for months on end. I am starting to realise that being busy isn’t an excuse, it’s a lack of discipline. But something in me has changed recently in that realisation that being busy doing the grind can sometimes diminish you if you’re not doing stuff for you.

Ironically it was doing a favour for a good Boater mate that brought this realisation to me. A friend who I actually met through doing my youtube channel ( something else I have allowed to lapse recently) and who has done us so many favours helping us get rid of waste from the boats when we were too far from facilities and unable to move the boats.

He was moving hi 70ft Narrowboat all the way into Birmingham City Centre and it involved alot of locks, 28 to be precise and single handed would have been nigh on impossible to do. So a few of us went along to lend a hand, many hands make light work sorta thing.

I was curious as well as it was a stretch of the canal network I have yet to do myself and have heard alot about it. Birmingham has more canals then Venice although clearly nowhere near as romantic, and was the heart of all things industrial during the canals glory years.

Cruising inbetween and underneath all this old industrial architecture brough back to me not only how much I have missed cruising on our boats this past year, but also how much I missed recording it, filming it, photographing and sharing it. I mean I really felt how much I was missing it by being buried in work and other obligations and just neglecting my own soul enrichment.

I had shared the idea of doing a daily post and I think I am going to try. Let's see how it goes.
