The first that that I won my very first Black Foil card was in May 1st for the mint #119 of the common unit, Grim Bonewhip. Then in June 5th, I got another Black Foil card wit the mint #10 of Skrag the Gnaw, which is by far to be my greatest full. And at that point, I no longer expect that I will win another premium card, as there were only a few draws remaining before all the premium cards were distributed. But that was where I was wrong. Because on June 26th, I got my third Black Foil card. And 26 seems to be my lucky number because the card that I won was the mint #26 of the rare unit, Swampwrought. How often can you see when a card has been pulled on the same date as its mint #.
And by no means was it an easy win, with a total of 234,187 entries that were entered during the last draw, my 222 entries was noting but a speck of dust. That was about a 0.000934 chance that I could win in a single draw or a 0.073 chance to be among the 78 winners during the last draw.
Anyway, let me flex Swampwrought a little, before I let it go.
Swampwrought is a 5-mana Earth unit with the Rare rarity. As a magic unit, it can inflict up to 3 magic damage, while also having decent health and armor to last in battles, though its speed was not that amazing. That said, it has the Flying ability that gives it 25% chance to evade melee and range attacks, as well as prevents this card from losing health due to the effect of the Earthquake ruleset. Furthermore, it has the Slow ability that reduces the speed of all opponent units by -1 and so long as it was not in the first position, this card cannot be targeted directly by the opponent units, thanks to its Camouflage ability.
Swampwrought has an Elemental Bloodline, so aside from Earth and Dragon Archons, it can be summoned by the Water Archon Loving The Moo though Blooline Dominion and immediately get the Poison ability, causing the target to lose 2 health at the beginning of the first round when afflicted, and a good choice to have during the Fates Certainty ruleset.
For this battle, the Junior Varsity ruleset was active, disabling the use of Archons and units that are more than 6 mana, so I was unable to use the majority of my cards, particularly the Archons, aside from the Archon Fithe Bladestone. But thanks to the Shapeshift Happens ruleset, all the remaining cards in my deck that I can use were able to be summoned by the Archon. So, I did not miss the opportunity and added Swampwrought in my lineup.
It turned out not to be such a bad choice because the opponent has employed a unit that has Swiftness to it, so Swampwrought has at least offset the increased speed. That said, since the opponent also uses Fithe Bladestone, all of their units also gain the Void ability, and they even have Ujurak Brave, which has the Silence ability, so my magic units, including Swampwrought, become less effective in battle during the early rounds.
But since my team is not entirely composed of magic units, I was able to break through their defense and finally took out their main tank, making my magic units more effective.
And at the end of the battle, Swampwrought was able to inflict the finishing blow to Withered Old Sage. Not really a showcase of its capabilities, but it is able to at least contribute to this battle, aside from the 20% bonus that using a black foil card gives when winning a match.
And that was it for the rare unit Swamprought. Since I do not really play much of the Earth team and do not use most of the Conclave Arcana Archons that can be used along with this card, it is less likely that I can utilize the capabilities of this card to the fullest, and will likely be stuck in my deck most of the time. Because of that, I will likely just sell this card to the market, along with Skrag the Gnaw, along with my second copy of Grim Bonewhip.
If you were looking for these cards, you can reach out to me for offers, but for now, I will put them in the market.
