Today my neighbor, a 60 year old lady, who I have been seeing every since I can remember, came to me and was boasting about how she blasted her son who wants to have a son after 2 daughters.

Well, he is a good man who loves his daughters to the deepest core of his heart, but wants a son too may be for the feel of having one. However, his mom ( my neighbor) is against the idea because she is scared that she will have to care them through pre and post pregnancy time.

While she kept boasting about how she tackled them, I could feel a pinch in my heart for my mother in law had also told us to not make babies. Now, unlike my neighbor, my mother in law never cared for me even if I puked blood. When I was puking, she once told me to clean the mess I had created in the wash room and cook food soon as it was already lunch time. She never helped us financially or physically then why does she have a say on our lives.

I told my neighbor that she could tell her son's family that she would not be of any help, but it was not definitely her decision that they should consider. Deciding to grow their family was entirely their decision. I am not sure that she understood what I had to tell her, but she definitely understood that her advices are not something that the next generation. There are many more such parents who think their children would never grow up and their advices would help us breathe.
