Some time back I was travelling in Japan and I had the fantastic opportunity to eat some Sea Urchin.
It is commonly referred to as "Sea Urchin Roe/Eggs", however they are actually the gonads (reproductive organs, think testicles and ovaries!!) of the sea urchin!
They have a distinct taste unlike anything else that I have ever eaten.
It is sweet, salty, creamy and oceany all at the same time.
A very unique experience. :)
The whole set meal costs about $60 USD.
