Greetings!
One thing that I dislike so much even with passion is when people take matters into their own hands. When people take matters into their own hands, it's like evading justice which to me is not the best way to go by in any sane society.
Having said so much about justice and humanity. I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt in the Hive learners community which is all about. “Cancel Culture.”
The cancel culture is one thing that has been affecting the human race in the most recent time most especially when people do something terrible online and the get punished for the offence committed by them online.”
Well, if I am to speak out on this particular issue or topic. I would say that I'm and would never be in support of the cancel culture and this is because of how people go about it by taking matters into their own hands instead of allowing the appropriate authority to look into the matter themselves.
One thing we should all know here is that we human are bound to make mistakes and for this singular reason, we all should know that no one among us is perfect and it's in the imperfection of everyone of us that mistakes happen, so, if we now criminalise the mistakes of other and then apply the cancel culture, where is now the room for correction.
What this means to me is that, there would be no room for correction and one thing that I have got to know in life is that we make mistakes to be corrected and when the mistakes now turned to crime and one is now being punished severely maybe by blocking and the likes, then this to me is not good enough and not humane.
Furthermore, another thing that I would want us to know is that, those people that are always at the forefront of penalizing others for what offence or mistakes they did or committed are not even free from those offenses that might have accused others of committing. In fact, they are the ones who are mostly found guilty of the same offence they have accused others of committing.
However, because of their huge influence on social media, they would always find a way of escaping such offences they might have accused others of committing which to me is the most hypocritical thing that can ever happen in life.
So, one thing that I would always advocate for is that people should be stopped and curbed from taking matters into their own hands and instead, those people who are saddled with the responsibility of managing the affairs of anything that happened online should be allowed to do and carry out their assignments without being influenced and they too should be ready to do the needful without taking sides. They should rise to taking their responsibility.
