We may have often heard people saying that honesty is one of the best policies that anyone can set for themselves. This is actually true. You will agree with me that people will be cautious when dealing with someone that has created an impression of dishonesty through their actions.

Nothing reveals you like your level of honesty. A story was told of a young man who was raised and taught about honesty right from his childhood, so he grew up with that mindset. When he finished from school and got a well paying job, he found out that things were very different there and negates everything he was taught about honesty.
Some of his colleagues will mutilate figures just to cut a little from it. Some others will mismanage resources for their own personal interest... height of dishonesty. The one that was very popular was people not reporting the exact time they came to work.
Well, for the young man, he kept to his principle of honesty even when his friends tried to convince him otherwise. Others looked at him like he would not make it without cutting corners but he was not moved.
One day, everyone came to work, but for some reasons, he arrived late. The rule of the company states that any worker that comes after 8:00am will be fined, this made some of the workers to sign in false time even when they are late. He arrived around 8:26am and everyone was looking to know if he will keep to his honesty. Well, he simply wrote 8:26am and waited for his fine.
Those that came later dishonestly wrote 8:00am as usual just to escape the fines. They have been doing it before but that day was different. At the end of the day, it was discovered that a security breach was carried out in the company's software. When the breach was traced, it was discovered that it happened before 8:01am that day.
Without anyone owning up to know anything about it, the management had to assemble all the staff that signed in from 8:00am down (of course those that lied were also caught in the web) to query them for the breach and all of them were given suspension and heavily fined. This was how the young man escaped because he chose to sign in the exact time he came to work. You see, whether now or later, honesty will always pay handsomely, so it's your choice.
