"Honesty is the best policy" -not necessary it's true

"Honesty is the best policy" - I'm sure you've heard about it many times, and it's very natural. I also believe that in the present world we need honest people, and if most of the people in this world become honest, we can expect a happy and peaceful world. From childhood, our seniors, our parents, advised us to be honest. It also says that the honesty of a person pays off in the end, and no matter what kind of situation we face, we should maintain it.

It's true that an honest person is trusted by most people, and whenever he says something, others usually believe it. It can help us to avoid various kinds of hassle in life. It's like our honesty speaks for ourselves in many situations, and it's an advantage of being honest. Honesty is a very good trait in one's personality, and people love to surround themselves with honest people. But doesn't it have any kind of backlash or disadvantages? What do you think about it?

To be honest, I don't believe the statement "honesty is the best policy" is applicable in every kind of situation. In my opinion, it depends on whether we are surrounded by good people or we are surrounded by people who are dishonest. Let me share an example of it, which can help you to understand it better, and it's a real-life example. A few years ago, there was a man who became a police officer, and he wanted to protect people and help people. In my country, most of the police are corrupt, and he came into the field to change the system, in my opinion, and he tried to make it happen. He never took bribes from others, and he tried to do his duty honestly.

I really appreciate the kind of people who come to this field with such intention. He has arrested some criminals for violating the laws and put them behind prison. Some of them had powerful backgrounds, and naturally they had political influence. The police officer tried his best to keep those criminals behind bars, but because of powerful influences, those criminals came out of prison within a single day. After a week, those criminals killed the police officer. His family member filed a case against those criminals, but his family has yet to get justice. That police officer didn't take bribes and offered his honesty to the system, but what did the system do with him? The system failed to protect him, and even the system didn't give him any justice even after his death. I think he would have lived a better life if he had not been honest. It is just an example, but there are many other cases similar to that.

In a system, when one person is honest and most people are dishonest, the honest person suffers the most. Throughout my entire life, I have seen that most of the time honest people suffer in the end. The world is not fair. There is no rule that dishonest people receive any punishment. What should I believe? Should I believe what I see, or should I believe what seniors just advised us, like the words in books? I don't deny the fact that in some cases honesty can help us when it is something related to trust. But when we face real trouble, our honesty becomes the real reason for our trouble.
