There is almost nothing as inevitable and unavoidable as change. In life, people and things undergo certain changes and this is part of what make life worth living. Imagine living in a world where everyone and everything is static, it will be so boring. So for the fact that we anticipate changes is the reason why we see worth in living. Changes occur in very many ways and manner; from your personal growth and development, to your career, environment, etc. Each change has the ability to open you up to the next chapter of your life, so you should learn how to welcome and face changes with courage.

One of the things you need to know about change is that it may not always be according to plan nor will it always be palatable. Sometimes, it may be inconvenient but it does not mean that it is totally unwelcoming if you can face it with courage. In some other cases, the change might even be good but because of the fact that it disrupts the normal pattern that you are used to, you might tend to oppose it. You have to understand that you cannot remain in the old ways of doing things and expect to have a newer result. If you are unwilling to welcome change, then growth and development will become almost unachievable.

Why a lot of people oppose change is simply because of the unpredictabilities surrounding it, which also triggers fear within them. It is worthy to note that it is not unnormal to be scared of what you have not experienced before, but this is where courage comes in. You have to face the change that comes to you. No matter how it may present to you, there will always be a positive side to it, or at least something in it that will be beneficial to you even if not in the present but in the long run. You have to understand that being courageous does not mean the absence of fear, but it means taking steps irrespective of the prevailing fears - welcoming change as it comes and then acting in line with it to turn it to your ally.

In order to increase your level of courage in order to better face changes, you need to learn to focus your dominant attention on what you have control of rather than seeing only what you cannot control. For example; in a raining season, you do not have control of when rain will fall or how it will fall because it is in its season, but you have a control of how to face the rain - either to go out with umbrella or raincoat. You see, you were not able to stop the change from happening, rather you faced it with courage, thereby achieving the result of not being beaten by the rain. In life, even if you are not able to determine or control the circumstances the rise up, at least you can control how you react or respond to them.

Also, to grow your courage, you need to grow in knowledge. You will agree with me that it feels easier and better to undertake a step that you already have a prior knowledge of than one which you are a novice at. If you do not know how to swim, for example, going near water will be very scary. But when you have the knowledge of swimming, water will not be intimidating to you again. So the more knowledge you acquire, the bigger courage you build to welcome and face changes as they come. If you see yourself always failing at the presence of change, then you need to go for more knowledge. Grow your knowledge and you will become more courageous.

In addition to growing your knowledge, you also need to be found in the company of people that will add positively to you and will make you more prepared to face changes - optimistic people, not people with pessimistic disposition to life. Apart from the fact that the people you company with can determine the events of your life, they can also affect how you respond to the things that happen around you. So to face changes with courage, you also need to stay with the people that will help you achieve the goal.
