There may come to a point in life when you feel like a lot of things are out of order and they are going beyond control. This may be as a result of challenges, relationships with people, etc. But you should not forget one thing - you are your own CEO. That is, the power to direct your life, manage it, take decisions, make moves, lead yourself towards success, is already delivered to you. Just like the CEO of a company or an organisation will not just sit and watch the company go directionless in an anyhow manner, but will make decisions for the effectiveness and efficiency of the company. In the same way, you have the responsibility to do the same in your life for your own greater good.

One of the things that I have understood about life is that each human is almost absolutely responsible for their happiness, their growth, their future, and even their health. It is true that other factors like luck, good relationship, friendship, mentors, etc, may also play a role, but the bulk of the responsibility rests on you. People may help you, but you have the final say as regards your life. When you begin to see your life in this regards, then you will not leave it at the mercy of luck or chance.

Being the CEO of your life, in addition to taking responsibility for it, also means that you will not give excuses or trade blames when things happen, rather you will welcome the effects. Even if what happens is not your fault, you still have the responsibility to respond or react to it. As a CEO, you are not to dwell on the challenges and the problems at hand, but you need to focus on the solution that you want to get from it. That is, seeing life differently; seeing opportunities in challenges, lessons in failure, stepping-stone in every stumblingblock, and you will always see a way around everything.

To become the CEO of your life, you have to set clear goal. Ask yourself where you see your life and what you are expected to achieve in the next couple of years. You will agree with me that no company or organisation will move forward and succeed without having a clear goal. Of course, what is success for you may not be for another person. Each person has their own definition of success, because everyone has dissimilar goals. For example; what a student will see as success may be good grades in their exam. For a business person, it might be profit and expansion. Then for a career person, it may be growth. You have to define yours and stick to it.

As the CEO of your life, you have to learn to manage time, resources, energy, and relationships well. You should not be seen wasting your time on things that do not add value to your life. Time, as a valuable resource, should be managed to the best of your ability. Then surround yourself with people who would also value your time. Just as CEOs invest in the growth of their organisation, you also have to invest in your own growth. You can achieve that by reading, acquiring skills, continuous learning, going for seminars, etc. There is no investment that you do in yourself that will not be needed, even if not now, but sometimes in the future.

In addition to continuous learning, you also have to take risks. Do not be scared or afraid to make mistakes, because it may make you not to take the steps. Rather, be open to taking risks, make big moves. You either succeed at it, or if it does not go according to plan, then you learn from it. If you do not take risks and steps, you may be stagnated and you may not experience success. Always keep in mind that your actions of today, as a responsible CEO of your life, will determine how your tomorrow will be. This is why you have to keep working towards improving and becoming a better version of who you used to be.
