FILVEN: Experiencia enriquecedora (Esp/Ing)

La Feria Internacional del Libro de Venezuela (FILVEN) es un evento que se ha organizado desde el año 2005, el objetivo es promover la cultura de la lectura, dado que el reto que presentaba el escenario educativo y cultural requerían un tratamiento urgente, no se estaba inculcando el hábito por la lectura. El auge de las plataformas tecnológicas ha consolidado lectores pasivos, quienes consumen información sin reflexión alguna. La FILVEN nace como una estrategia para mitigar dicha realidad.

The Venezuela International Book Fair (FILVEN) is an event that has been organized since 2005, the objective is to promote the culture of reading, given that the challenge that the educational and cultural scenario presented required urgent treatment, the habit was not being inculcated. The boom of technological platforms has consolidated passive readers, who consume information without any reflection. FILVEN is born as a strategy to mitigate this reality.

Este año tuve la oportunidad de asistir a esta feria, la realizaron en la plaza Bolívar de la ciudad, en tiempos anteriores, Caracas era el epicentro, ahora la organizan en diferentes regiones del país. En este espacio, convergieron poetas, literatos, profesores, escritores, estudiantes universitarios, en general, amantes de la lectura, me topé con varios rostros conocidos, con los cuales compartí algunas impresiones. La cuestión más alarmante es que los precios de los libros no son accesibles, así que lejos de invitar a la lectura, se coloca un obstáculo de acercamiento, por lo menos, en el formato físico. Asunto que debería tomarse en consideración para actividades posteriores.

This year I had the opportunity to attend this fair, they did it in the Bolívar square of the city, in previous times, Caracas was the epicenter, now they organize it in different regions of the country. In this space, poets, literati, professors, writers, university students, in general, lovers of reading, I met several familiar faces, with which I shared some impressions. The most alarming thing is that the prices of books are not accessible, so instead of inviting reading, it places an obstacle of approach, at least, in the physical format. Matter that should be taken into consideration for future activities.

En lo personal, me encanta el olor y la textura de los libros, disfruto recorrer sus páginas, allí se da una conexión especial con el texto, definitivamente, la experiencia es distinta cuando leemos en digital. Lamentablemente, no pude ampliar mi biblioteca en esta ocasión. Sin embargo, la FILVEN me permitió otro contacto con el mundo de la literatura, lo cual agradezco, siempre es interesante conocer nuevos escritores y sumergirse en sus obras.

Personally, I love the smell and texture of books, I enjoy going through their pages, there is a special connection with the text, definitely, the experience is different when we read digitally. Unfortunately, I could not expand my library this time. However, FILVEN allowed me another contact with the world of literature, which I appreciate, it is always interesting to meet new writers and immerse yourself in their works.

En definitiva, leer nos ayuda a desarrollar pensamientos críticos. No tengo dudas de que la conciencia social se consolida con el debate e intercambio de saberes. Conocer nuestros orígenes nos permite preparar a la generación futura, quienes mantendrán viva la memoria histórica, es una forma de preservar la herencia cultural.

In conclusion, reading helps us develop critical thinking. I have no doubt that social consciousness is consolidated with debate and exchange of knowledge. Knowing our origins allows us to prepare future generations, who will keep alive the historical memory, is a way to preserve cultural heritage.
