Hello, black-and-white photography enthusiasts on Hive!

Last night, I had the opportunity to serve on a jury evaluating poets performing over the course of two days—yesterday and today—at a spoken-word poetry festival held in Santa Clara, right in the center of Cuba. The event is taking place at the El Mejunje Cultural Center, an iconic venue that welcomes artists of every imaginable form of expression.

It was a truly magical night that exceeded all my expectations.

Every poet and every artist involved gave us the best of themselves through poetry, music, and every gesture.

The diversity of the presentations was the most interesting aspect. Everyone—even those just starting out on their cultural journey—demonstrated potential worthy of applause, and they were rewarded accordingly by the audience after each performance.

As part of this very diversity of expression, several participants presented their poems barefoot—a detail that caught my attention. Meanwhile, some friends in the audience jokingly dubbed me "Risto Mejide" because of the rigor I applied when scoring each participant. Fortunately, the young poets understood my approach; my goal has always been to help them grow, with a focus—above all else—on sincerity and professional ethics.

I am very happy to have discovered that poetry has a future and that one need not look for it only in books.

The truth is, in every living space, poetry persists!

Still feeling that sense of satisfaction within, for now, I’ll take my leave—sending a warm, radiant embrace to each of you until our next black-and-white frame—but not before reminding you: don’t stop smiling!
