Hello, black-and-white photography enthusiasts on Hive!

Sometimes, people visit a cultural venue to enjoy a performance without taking a careful look at their surroundings. I witnessed this today with someone who was accompanying me here at La Luna Naranja—an iconic local cultural landmark where all kinds of artistic expressions take place.

Halfway through the concert, I pointed out some decorative features in the surroundings to her; she was so astonished that all she could do was laugh, having failed to notice them even though we had already been there for an hour or so.

This happens to so many people that I sometimes consider myself somewhat abnormal, given my habit of almost always getting lost in those details that—despite being in plain sight—never cease to surprise us. It’s something I always enjoy.

Vintage cars, expressions of the island’s religious devotion, fragments of doors and windows, radios, televisions, and VCRs—some still in working order—now occupy a corner of a multifaceted wall. These are among the elements that contribute to the magic that envelops you when you visit this place, whether you’ve come to enjoy a coffee or a beer, or simply to take in a theatrical performance or a musical show.

The music continues, and my eyes linger on those walls, as if intending to sketch them later.

Still feeling that sense of satisfaction within, for now, I’ll take my leave—sending a warm, radiant embrace to each of you until our next black-and-white frame—but not before reminding you: don’t stop smiling!
