Among chess pawns and kings | My entry for #Monomad Challenge [ENG-ESP]
Hello, black-and-white photography lovers on Hive!
Yesterday was one of those days that won’t soon be forgotten, given the sheer flood of emotions it brought with it. Much like black-and-white photography, there was a vivid, palpable contrast of emotions surrounding me.
At times, I felt as though I were playing a game of chess.
And, without any prior planning, the afternoon brought with it an unexpected visit to the Chess Palace in Santa Clara—a place I hadn’t set foot in for over two decades, due to various twists and turns in life.
As a child, I took my first steps here as a chess player. It was here that I participated in my first, unforgettable tournaments, and returning yesterday brought back a flood of wonderfully evocative memories.
Fortunately, I was able to see that this space—where enthusiasts of the "game of science" gather—still retains its vitality, serving as an arena for intense battles played out across 64 squares that bear witness to every move and strategy.
If you are knowledgeable about chess, you have surely noticed who was watching the game I photographed. It is Grandmaster Jesús Nogueiras —a true living legend on the international stage of this artistic sport.
Silence took hold of the room. All that could be heard were the movements of the pieces and the clicking of the clock keys, as each opponent awaited the next move.
The faces and expressions, the gestures—how could one not capture them all, frame by frame?
And so, in silence and deep in thought, I contemplate the moves that time might make next; I smile and take my leave for now—until the next black-and-white frame—but not before sending each of you a warm, radiant embrace!
Remember: don’t forget to smile!

Recuerden, ¡no olviden sonreír!
