Nasi Kandar is not on the list of my preferred dishes and I seldom eat it for dinner. However, I found myself craving a plate of Nasi Kandar for yesterday's breaking fast.
I then remembered that there's a newly opened Mamak restaurant called Nasi Kandar Aladdin. The Mamak restaurant is located conveniently in close proximity to my housing area.
So I asked my wife and kids to go to the newly opened Mamak restaurant. As the restaurant name suggests, its specialty is Nasi Kandar. The Mamak restaurant is just nearby. Only 2 minutes of driving distance from my house
Typically, during breaking fast the restaurant would be packed with customers. However, this was not the case yesterday. I am able to find a table upon entering the restaurant. This is probably because it is now entering the last week of Ramadhan. Where the majority of people prefer to eat at home instead of eating outside.
After securing a table, I went to the Nasi Kandar counter to choose my dishes. At the counter, I opted for white rice with fried chicken, fried cabbage, and fried potato slices, paired with mutton curry and honey chicken gravy.
My wife and daughter ordered fried rice and fried noodles. As for drinks, we ordered two iced tea, one iced lemon tea, and a glass of plain water.
At the first bite, I can feel my cravings for Nasi Kandar go away. Even though the taste is not as I expected, it is good enough to put my craving away. Once we had finished eating, I then made a payment at the payment counter. The price was reasonable. For all that we have ordered, we were charged MYR30."
