We had an exciting evening last night. First the dogs became extremely agitated at the giant animals on wheels stealing all the snow. They were ferociously defending the disappearing territory . It was a good thing we did not turn them loose. Then we witnessed a bitter confrontation over a neighbor's dog that did get loose and killed their neighbor's chicken. The chicken was more of a pet than a meal to owners. The dog couldn't disagree more. Sad really, to see someone crying over a chicken, but nonetheless threats of violence and retaliation ensued. Oh, the county Animal Control showed up. They wanted the dog. The neighbor would not give it up. Interestingly, the animal control cannot remove the animal from the house without a warrant or from the property unless the animal is considered dangerous to "others". The chicken was ruled not to be "others". It is sad to see the neighbors fighting. It is equally sad to see someone experience the loss of a beloved pet. Although, it is hard for me to imagine having affection for a chicken unless it has mashed potatoes and gravy associated with it. However, it is also hard for me to imagine a dog served with fried rice and bamboo shoots as delicious. Still, I pray for a healing of feelings, an easing of tensions, and peace for our neighborhood. It was an accident. Good fences make good neighbors. I believe that was from Emerson, or maybe Trump. Hmmm...
