Hello Asean HIvers!
I'm back with this Plantita Number Cake that I made for my mother-in-law. It's called Plantita because the Plant and Tita(Auntie) were combined. Last year most of the Titas' nationwide was addicted to buying, selling and planting different plants. Even the cakes on their birthdays are also Plant-inspired until now. My mother-in-law never had this kind of cake that's why I made her one this year and she liked it.
Let me share how I made it:
I baked a vanilla chiffon cake in rectangular pan and slice it with the guide of my DIY number cake template.
As you can see there are some cut in my cake, my template is larger to the pan I used so I need to cut some from the scrap to make the number a whole. In my observation, moist cake is more suitable for this cake because chiffon is to soft and if it's too thin it may be broken during the layering. Despite of knowing the difference of the two cakes I still choose to use chiffon because this is the most favorite cake base of the celebrant.
I piped a light green colored whipped cream using a 6B piping tip. I started piping at the side going to the center and another side, making sure that there is no gap visible.
Put the last layer of cake in each number then do the same piping. Let it chill inside the fridge for 15 minutes.
For these succulent-like I used a darker green whipped cream and a curved piping tip, and for light pink roses I used a regular petal tip. I put it inside the freezer to 15-20 minutes or just until it becomes hard.
This is made of melted white chocolate, thickly spread in a parchment paper the I used a cookie cutter to mold it. Let it chill inside the fridge until it hardens before removing the cutter. I don't have a cookie letter stamp for the letters so I used a toothpick instead. Golden yellow gel food color and edible gold luster dust are used to achieve a golden and shimmering effect for the sides and letters.
I first pipe some cactus then the succulent-like thing.
I added next are the roses then add some other green rosette and other designs. You can always design this kind of cake according to your choice. You can also add macaroons, spinkles, chocolates and others.
This is the final look. In every cake that I made my goal is to always satisfy the celebrant and it feels so happy after hearing their feedback.
I also experienced some complaints like after I finished the cake and send the photos to them then suddenly ask me to do some changes, as in last minutes before pick up. Before I panicked but now the first thing I do is to think how I can solve this problem. Baking and decorating cakes teach me how to be more patient. I'm the person who don't like problems but now I know how to face them.
That's all for today, see you on my next blog!
