Hi all, I just figured I share with you what I eat/drink after a workout in order to get the recovery process going.
The first two priorities after working out you should have in the back of your mind after a session is to replenish the fluids you've lost and to then replenish your muscle glycogen. This covers both simultaneously :D.

The first thing I do after flying in through the kitchen door is grab the blender, throw in three RIPE bananas, some frozen fruit (I like to use raspberries and strawberries), chuck in a generous splash of organic soya milk then blend it all up. If its been quite a longer session like a run or bike ride thats 2 hours or longer I will use up to 10 bananas in my bigger blender. When its at a fine consistency I'll smash it in, gets you hydrated and starts to replenish the spent muscle glycogen. Thats all there is too it, nothing fancy, nothing over complicated.

Usually if I feel like I'm still going to hungry after a smoothie...like after burning 5,000 calories on a bike ride I start to cook up a meal while drink my smoothie :D My go to favourite after a long endurance session is a big bowl of whole grain pasta, a little tofu, leafy green salad and some soy sauce. Pasta for glycogen, tofu for protein, leafy greens for fibre plus the iron content for the haemoglobin, and soy sauce because why not.

Give it a go after your next workout, make a smoothie, you'll feel rejuvenated fastest. :)
