Today like every Monday I have to go with my husband to pick Miranda up at school and then stay with her in the square to wait for her violin lessons and those days have become a special time to talk with her alone and although it is not much time (only one hour), since she enters her class and I have to wait two hours for her, I am grateful for that time together.
I usually bring her lunch and we sit in the square for her to eat before she goes into class and I must say there is no way to get bored with her. Miranda is super chatty and a very witty girl, as well as funny, so lunchtime flies by. But there are days like today when preparing lunch was difficult and we had to buy something to eat.
The place, of course is located in our second home.... La Asunción square, which is where all her and Matias' after school activities are and for these occasions there is a not so fast food place where we usually eat when it's our turn and what we always order are Miranda's favorites; a combo of two hot dogs with soda, but today she wanted something different, so I asked her to go to the place to read the board to see what they had available.

Hoy como todos los lunes me toca ir con mi esposo a recoger a Miranda al colegio para luego quedarme con ella en la plaza a esperar que llegue la hora de entrar a sus clases de violín y esos días se han convertido en un espacio especial para conversar con ella las dos solas y aunque no es mucho tiempo (sólo una hora), ya que entra a su clase y me toca esperar dos horas por ella, agradezco ese tiempo juntas.
Generalmente traigo su almuerzo y nos sentamos en la plaza para que coma antes de entrar a clases y debo decir que no hay manera de aburrirse con ella. Miranda es súper conversadora y una niña muy ocurrente, además de divertida, así que la hora del almuerzo se nos va volando. Pero hay días como hoy en los que preparar el almuerzo fue difícil y tuvimos que comprar algo para comer.
El lugar, por supuesto está ubicado en nuestro segundo hogar... La plaza de La Asunción, que es donde quedan todas sus actividades extraescolares y las de Matías y para estas ocasiones hay un local de comida "rápida" no tan rápida en el que solemos comer cuando nos toca y lo que siempre pedimos son los favoritos de Miranda; un combo de dos perro calientes con refresco, pero hoy quería algo diferente, así que le pedí fuese hasta el local a leer la pizarra para ver qué tenían disponible.
As she walked away to go to the store I noticed how big she is and how close she is to turning from a little girl into a Teenager. Just this month she turns ten, God willing, and I can't believe that time has gone by so fast and that my white milk is already close to becoming a Teenager when just a little while ago she was a little flea walking holding my hand.
And even though she still does it (walking holding my hand) the little flea has grown up! Her clothes are now a size 12 and her shoes a size 36! Her conversations are different and so is her outlook on life. She is definitely a great companion for me, so even though I am here for two hours waiting for her, that hour, just her and I make up for it completely. It's a special time, our girls only afternoon and if it involves food so much the better.
And today on the menu there was quite a variety and we ended up choosing salchipapas which is something she loves and me too, so there was no objection from me, on the contrary and while we were waiting for the food she was telling me about her morning at school and how she planned to organize her time, because as if it wasn't enough she auditioned for the school choir and last week I was informed she was selected, but the rehearsal schedule is in the afternoons too, so we have to tighten our belts more and organize the times so she can do everything she wants to do.
Finally between stories and stories and a few photos, the food arrived and it was not as delicious as I expected because the sausages were overcooked and almost completely dehydrated, but the chips were delicious and everything combined with the sauces offered a tasty snack.
Mientras ella se alejaba para ir al local noté lo grande que está y lo poco que falta para que pase de niña a Adolescente. Justo éste mes cumple sus diez años Dios mediante y no puedo creer que el tiempo haya pasado tan rápido y que mi blanca leche ya esté cerca de convertirse en Adolescente cuando hace poquito era una pulguita que caminaba tomada de mi mano.
Y aunque aún lo hace (caminar de mi mano) la pulguita se creció! Ya su ropa es talla 12 y 36 sus zapatos! Sus conversaciones son diferentes y su manera de ver la vida también. Definitivamente es una gran compañía para mí, por lo que a pesar de estar aquí dos horas esperándola, esa hora, sólo ella y yo lo compensan por completo. Es un momento especial, nuestra tarde de sólo chicas y si involucra comida mucho mejor.
Y hoy en el menú había bastante variedad y terminamos escogiendo salchipapas que es algo que a ella le encanta y a mi también, así que no hubo objeción alguna de mi parte, todo lo contrario y mientras esperábamos la comida me contaba sobre su mañana en la escuela y cómo pensaba organizar su tiempo, porque como si no fuese suficiente audicionó para la coral de la escuela y la semana pasada me informaron la seleccionaron, pero el horario de ensayo es en las tardes también, así que nos toca ajustarnos más el cinturón y organizar los tiempos para que pueda hacer todo lo que quiere.
Finalmente entre cuento y cuento y unas cuantas fotos llegó la comida que no estaba tan rica como yo esperaba pues las salchichas las cocinaron demasiado y casi que las deshidrataron por completo pero las papitas estaban deliciosas y todo combinado con las salsas te ofrecían un rico bocado.
We ate slowly to enjoy the food, as Miranda does when it's something she likes, although I begin to suspect she says that to justify how long it takes her to eat, but since there was no rush we enjoyed the food and the company.
I confess that sometimes I get tired of so many activities, so much coming and going and especially the many hours of waiting between one thing and another but I decided to enjoy each one because in a short time everything will change. We will enter a totally different stage and I am sure I will miss these afternoons alone with her and even the two hours of waiting while she takes her classes and time passes so fast that I have decided to make the most of it. I don't want to keep the "would have " but a lot of memories with them.

Comimos despacito para disfrutar la comida, como hace Miranda cuando es algo que le gusta, aunque comienzo a sospechar que lo dice para justificar lo mucho que demora comiendo, pero como no había apuro disfrutamos la comida y la compañía.
Confieso que a veces me agotan tantas actividades, tanto ir y venir y sobre todo las muchas horas de espera entre una cosa y otra pero decidí disfrutar cada una porque en poco tiempo todo cambiará. Entraremos a una etapa totalmente diferente y estoy segura que extrañaré estas tardes solo con ella e incluso las dos horas de espera mientras toma sus clases y es que el tiempo pasa tan de prisa que he decidido aprovecharlo al máximo. No quiero quedarme con los "hubiese" sino con un montón de recuerdos con ellos.
Así que seguiré sentada en ésta plaza riendo con ella, esperando por ella y escribiendo para ustedes mientras lo hago.
