You could say that accidents at home are my specialty and that I'm a real expert, from burning food to giving my cell phone a bubble bath in the washing machine, so grab a seat and make yourselves comfortable, this initiative is made for me!

As for me, I've been quite busy and very anxious for several days because I wanted to come and share with you my participation in the initiative because there are many crazy things that I have had to live in the exercise of my work at home.
In fact, I could easily have a story for each day of the initiative and I would be short of them. Aha, that's how many stories I have. The good thing is that Fridays are "Tell it all!" Fridays in the community and there I will take the opportunity to tell you about my misadventures as manager of my home.
And my anecdote for this initiative is related to the image above, only that it was not a broken glass (I wish it had been that!), but a glass refractory that I took to the oven and ended up shattered with dinner inside, so tell me if this is not a story worth telling.
The good thing about all this Greek tragedy is that it will not only serve me for this post, but at the time it was a great learning experience and for you it will be a DON'T DO THIS EVER!. So if you see it is a story that even has its usefulness, because it comes with a moral included.
Maybe for some people the answer is obvious, but if I am here telling you this was because clearly for me it was not, although something similar had already happened to me, so maybe I have no excuse, but well, an oversight happens to anyone, right?
And to make a long story short, I'll tell you that one of the craziest and saddest moments I've experienced in my work as a housewife happened while I was trying to prepare a different kind of dinner for my family.
That night I decided to "show off " with some baked stuffed zucchini. And for that I used a glass refractory of rectangular size where they could all fit without any problem and without running the risk of sticking and damaging them when plating (poor innocent, that was going to be the least of my worries).
Everything was perfect, the dish looked great before going into the oven, and the whole family was attentive at dinner time.
Well... everyone except me who was very busy answering a friend's phone call and by the time I went to check how dinner was going, I noticed that all the liquid had dried up, so I needed water, and without thinking twice I added a cup of water from the kitchen faucet, and what happened was really unexpected... although maybe I should have expected it.
As soon as the water (which was at room temperature) touched the hot refractory it shattered into a thousand pieces, which produced a rather loud noise and made my whole family run to the kitchen to find the sad scene.
The refractory was gone, and in its place were shards of glass scattered across the oven, part of the kitchen floor and of course on and under our zucchini.
So not only was dinner ruined, but I ended up damaging my glass refractory, which was not only my favorite, but quite expensive (I still haven't replaced it), so I think this qualifies perfectly as one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me at home.
And to find out why this happened, let's go with a little bit of science!
Very much in the style of "The Science of the Absurd " show aired on Discovery Chanel (and my son's favorite), I proceed to explain why this happened due to the sudden change in temperature that the refractory underwent.
So, here's something to keep in mind: heat causes materials to expand, and cold causes them to contract, so adding cold water to a hot glass refractory is not a good idea. Do not do it at home.
In that case, the solution is to incorporate the water very slowly or heat it a little before adding it, but being distracted by the call I completely forgot that it had already happened to me once. Aha, yes, it had already happened to me with a glass lid of one of my pots, but that's another story.
And well friends, if my misfortune is anything to go by I can say it was worth it. Although I would have preferred to have my zucchini for dinner and not bread and cheese, but you learn from your mistakes, but twice is too many, right?

En cuanto a mi, tengo varios d铆as bastante ocupada y muy ansiosa pues ya quer铆a venir a compartir con ustedes mi participaci贸n en la iniciativa porque son muchas las cosas locas que me ha tocado vivir en el ejercicio de mis labores en casa.
De hecho, pudiese f谩cilmente tener una historia para cada d铆a que dura la iniciativa y me faltar铆an. Aj谩, 隆as铆 de historias tengo!. Lo bueno es que los viernes son de "隆Cu茅ntalo Todo!" en la comunidad y ah铆 aprovechar茅 de hablarle de mis desventuras como gerente de mi hogar.
Y mi an茅cdota para esta iniciativa tiene relaci贸n con la im谩gen de arriba, solo que no se trat贸 de un vaso roto (隆ojal谩 hubiese sido eso!), sino de un refractario de vidrio que llev茅 al horno y que termin贸 hecho a帽icos con la cena dentro, as铆 que d铆ganme ustedes si esta no es una historia digna de contar.
Lo bueno de toda esta tragedia griega es que no s贸lo me servir谩 para este post, sino que en su momento fu茅 un gran aprendizaje y para ustedes ser谩 un 隆NO HAGAS ESTO JAM脕S!. As铆 que si lo ven es una historia que hasta tiene su utilidad, pues viene con moraleja incluida.
Quiz谩 para algunos la respuesta es obvia, pero si estoy aqu铆 cont谩ndoles esto fue porque claramente para m铆 no lo era, aunque ya me hab铆a pasado algo similar, as铆 que quiz谩 no tenga excusa, pero bueno, un despiste le ocurre a cualquiera. 驴Verdad?
Y para no hacer m谩s largo esto, les cuento que uno de los momentos m谩s locos y tristes que he viv铆do en mi labor de ama de casa ocurri贸 mientras pretend铆a preparar una cena diferente para mi familia.
Esa noche decid铆 "lucirme" con unos calabacines rellenos al horno. Y para ello utilic茅 un refractario de vidrio de tama帽o rectangular donde pudieran entrar todos sin problema y sin correr el riesgo que se pegaran y da帽aran al emplatar (pobre inocente, esa iba a ser la menor de mis preocupaciones).
Todo iba perfecto, el plato se ve铆a genial antes de entrar el horno, y toda la familia estaba atenta a la hora de cenar.
Bueno... todos menos yo que estaba muy entretenida atendiendo la llamada telef贸nica de una amiga y para cuando fu铆 a ver c贸mo iba la cena, not茅 que se hab铆a secado todo el l铆quido, por lo que necesitaba agua, y sin pensarlo dos veces agregu茅 una taza de agua del grifo de la cocina, y lo que sucedi贸 fue realmente inesperado... aunque quiz谩 deb铆 esperarlo.
Apenas el agua (que estaba a temperatura ambiente) toc贸 el refractario caliente se parti贸 en mil pedazos, lo que produjo un ruido bastante fuerte e hizo que mi familia en pleno corriera hasta la cocina para encontrase con la triste escena.
El refractario hab铆a desaparecido, y en su lugar hab铆a trozos de vidrio esparcidos en el horno, parte del suelo de la cocina y por supuesto encima y debajo de nuestros calabacines.
As铆 que la cena no s贸lo estaba arruinada, sino que termin茅 da帽ando mi refractario de vidrio, que no s贸lo era mi preferido, sino bastante costoso (a煤n no lo repongo), por lo que creo que esto califica perfectamente como una de las cosas m谩s locas que me ha sucedido en casa.
Y para saber el por qu茅 sucedi贸 esto, 隆vamos con un poquito de ciencia!
Muy al estilo de "La ciencia de lo absurdo" programa transmitido por Discovery Chanel (y favorito de mi hijo), procedo a explicar qu茅 esto ocurre debido al cambio brusco de temperatura que sufri贸 el refractario.
As铆 que, les dejo algo para tomar en cuenta: el calor hace que los materiales se dilaten, y el fr铆o que se contraigan, por lo que agregar agua fr铆a a un refractario de vidrio caliente no es buena idea. No lo hagan en casa.
En ese caso, la soluci贸n es incorporar el agua muy lentamente o calentarla un poco antes de agregarla, pero al estar distra铆da con la llamada olvid茅 por completo que ya me hab铆a sucedido una vez. Aj谩, s铆, ya me hab铆a pasado con una tapa de vidrio de una de mis ollas, pero esa es otra historia.
Y bueno amigos, si mi desgracia les sirve de algo puedo decir que vali贸 la pena. Aunque hubiese preferido cenar mis calabacines y no pan con queso, pero de los errores se aprende, aunque dos veces es como mucho 驴No?
