Today we were finally able to start painting at home, and that makes me really happy (despite the electrical problems), because we can finally organize everything to receive Christmas in our home, because although I have done many little things to decorate, without painting and deep cleaning I could not put absolutely nothing, so we officially started the preparations to make the house beautiful.
For those of you who follow my blog, you probably remember my red wall, which has been the focal wall of the living room, color that also has the entrance to my kitchen, and one of the walls of the kitchen as such, and although I really love this color and my mural with words, it's time to change the style at home.
And since my boys are now grown up I can experiment with lighter tones without fear of them getting dirty at every moment because of their naughty little hands, and the colors we chose for this change are white and gray, which are the colors we use in our bedroom and definitely create a very bright and cozy atmosphere.
So the gray is taking the place of the red, and the sandy white is being replaced by a pure white, and as you can imagine going from red to gray takes a bit of a process, and here's what we did before we started painting.
First of all the furniture was moved to clear the area to be painted, which I did together with my husband a few days ago, but with the electricity issue I really had not had much strength to do much and the hours with electricity were scarce.
Today, despite spending the whole night without light, sleeping terribly, and the horrible heat on the island I decided to start painting, so I cleaned the walls very well with a damp cloth to remove dust and any little thing that might be stuck to the wall, and with the broom I cleaned all the baseboard and started working with the red wall, to which I gave a coat of white color to make it much easier to cover with the gray.
I painted as far as my 5'5" frame would allow and left the top part for my husband, because I really don't like to use the ladder, so I painted the red wall with a coat of white and the other two walls that make up our little living room and in the afternoon my husband took care of painting the parts in the areas that I couldn't reach.
After waiting the 4 hours that the paint indicates to apply the second coat, I applied the first coat of gray, once again up to the height I could, and my husband, if the electricity accompanies us will finish the top part later, as well as the corners because I did not find the paper tape to avoid damaging the white wall, so it is Jos茅's turn.
Tomorrow comes the final coat of the gray wall and the white walls, but this step will be done with the roller so that the color is more uniform and without the streaks that usually leaves the use of the brush, and maybe my husband will be in charge of this task because honestly I'm already tired hahaha, it's not true, it's just that he works much better with the roller.
As you can see there is still a long way to go, but we have already started and I hope that tomorrow we can finish this part to organize the furniture and Christmas decorations. So stay tuned for progress. I pray to God that the light will be good 馃槈
