And I must say that this has always been my favorite time of the year and since my kids were born even more so. I love the lights, the colors, the decorations, everything! And I remember with nostalgia how since the month of August the big malls, supermarkets and department stores of the island were dressed up for Christmas.

Un poco tarde, pero como dicen por ahí "más vale tarde que nunca", pero si dependiera de mis hijos desde Agosto la casa estuviese decorada completamente porque apenas toman las vacaciones escolares para ellos la Navidad está a la vuelta de la esquina y aunque cada año colocamos el árbol y demás decoraciones por lo menos un mes antes, éste año con las actividades del día a día y el asma de Miranda nos retrasamos bastante, pero finalmente la semana pasada nos dispusimos a darle la bienvenida a la Navidad en nuestro hogar.
Y debo decir que esta siempre ha sido mi época favorita del año y desde que nacieron mis hijos mucho más. Amo las luces, los colores, las decoraciones, todo! Y recuerdo con nostalgia cómo desde el mes de Agosto los grandes centros comerciales, supermercados y tiendas departamentales de la isla se vestían de Navidad.

And it is just when the first decorations start to appear in the malls that my kids become more intense about putting Christmas at home, but this year has taken us with so many activities and health setbacks for the kids that we finally got active, or rather, I got active, later than usual (the kids were a while ago!).
For my kids the main thing is the Christmas tree and you can imagine why! Well, of course, it's because that's where their presents will be placed and although at home we decided as a family not to adopt the tradition of Baby Jesus or Santa, every year, even when they are in the belly my kids receive Christmas presents, so the tree is the first thing they want to put up. As if we would forget the presents!
Pero hace unos cuantos años con la llegada de la celebración del Halloween a nuestro país se desplazó el inicio de la Navidad en éstos lugares hasta después de Halloween, por lo que es en el mes de noviembre que se comienzan a notar las decoraciones navideñas.
Pero sin lugar a dudas, ya sea en Agosto o en Noviembre, los centros comerciales cada año se superan con sus hermosas decoraciones que nos invitan a llenar nuestros hogares de ése espíritu de amor que rodea a la Navidad.
Y es justo cuando las primeras decoraciones comienzan a aparecer en los centros comerciales que mis hijos se tornan más intensos con respecto a poner la Navidad en casa, pero este año nos ha tomado con tantas actividades y contratiempos de salud de los niños que finalmente nos activamos, o mejor dicho, YO me activé, más tarde que de costumbre (los niños hace rato lo estaban!).
Para mis hijos lo principal es el árbol de Navidad y se imaginarán el por qué! Pues por supuesto, es porque ahí serán colocados sus regalos y aunque en casa decidimos como familia no adoptar la tradición del Niño Jesus o Santa, cada año, incluso estando en la pancita mis niños reciben regalos de Navidad, por lo que el árbol es lo primero que quieren colocar. Como si se nos fuesen a olvidar los regalos!

Luckily they do a better job each time because when we were younger there was one place on the tree saturated with ornaments and the other with nothing!
This year I wanted to change the placement of the ribbon, since every year I did it the same way, so I looked for a tutorial and gave it a different touch so it wouldn't look the same as the last years and I liked the result, not only the use I gave to the ribbon but the way to place it on the tree.
As soon as we finished with the tree we went on to decorate the windows, or rather, "step " to decorate the windows, because once the tree was ready, for them the work was over! But I love that in every corner I look there is some decoration and although the little soldiers try to sneak away they end up collaborating at least passing the decorations!
Asi que es con el arbolito de Navidad que iniciamos las decoraciones y desde el año pasado estoy dejando por cuenta de los niños la colocación de los adornos, así que entre mi esposo y yo ponemos las luces y las cintas y ellos se encargan de la decoración.
Por suerte cada vez hacen un mejor trabajo porque estando más chicos había un lugar del árbol saturado de adornos y el otro sin nada!
Éste año quise variar la colocación de la cinta, ya que todos los años lo hacía de la misma manera, así que me busqué un tutorial y le dí un toque diferente para que no luciera igual a los últimos años y el resultado me gustó bastante, no sólo el uso que le dí a la cinta sino la forma de colocarla en el árbol.
En cuanto terminamos con el árbol pasamos a decorar las ventanas, o mejor dicho, "paso" a decorar las ventanas, porque una vez listo el árbol, para ellos terminó el trabajo! Pero a mi me encanta que a cualquier rincón que mire haya alguna decoración y aunque los soldaditos pretenden escabullirse terminan colaborando por lo menos pasando las decoraciones!

The heat that was doing on the island was not normal and that cold breeze that you feel when the afternoon approaches, is for me the ideal complement to our Christmas, but luckily a few days after arriving in November our weather changed and with it my mood.

Cuando todo está listo es como que el ambiente cambiara por arte de magia, aunque les confieso que éste año estaba sin muchos ánimos de poner la Navidad y creo que era porque el clima no acompañaba la fecha. El calor que estaba haciendo en la Isla no era normal y esa brisita fría que sientes cuando se acerca la tarde, es para mí el complemento ideal de nuestras navidades, pero por suerte a los pocos días de haber llegado noviembre nuestro clima cambió y con él mi estado de ánimo.
