The photos 📸 are my entry to the #monomad contest from @monochromes and @brumest.

Greetings hivers.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of working on a project with a great group of photographer friends. @muhammadhalim was the one who promoted the idea. The photographs had to be taken in a small town in a province near Havana.

Even before we started planning, @muhammadhalim told me it would be very difficult to photograph people there. He said they were elusive, that as soon as they saw a camera they would hide. I did not think much of it until I experienced it myself. People were truly shy. Only a few curious children approached us at first. It was only after gaining some trust that we were able to talk directly with some of the locals.

Even so, we did the work and I believe the result turned out very well. I hope you enjoy the photos and can appreciate the shyness of these people, completely untouched by anything that involves a camera lens.

Hace unos meses tuve el placer de trabajar en un proyecto con un grupo genial de amigos fotógrafos. @muhammadhalim fue quien promovió la idea. Las fotografías debían realizarse en un pueblo de una provincia cercana a La Habana.

Incluso antes de comenzar a planificar, @muhammadhalim me comentaba que sería muy difícil fotografiar a las personas allí. Decía que eran escurridizas, que al ver una cámara se escondían. No le di mucha importancia hasta que lo viví personalmente. Las personas eran realmente tímidas. Solo algunos niños curiosos se acercaban al principio. No fue hasta que ganamos cierta confianza que pudimos conversar directamente con algunos de los pobladores.

Aun así hicimos el trabajo y considero que el resultado quedó muy bien. Espero que les gusten las fotos y que puedan apreciar la timidez de estas personas, ajenas por completo a todo lo que implique un lente.
