Models That Come to Life on the Water

Greetings, Hive friends.

A few days ago I had the opportunity to attend a remote-controlled naval model exhibition held at the Castillo de la Real Fuerza in Old Havana. The exhibition took place in the old water moats that were once used as a defensive barrier against attacks on the fortress. Today, those same spaces became the setting for a beautiful demonstration of naval models, some of them, as you will see, with an incredible level of detail.

My friend @muhammadhalim had been insisting for days that we meet there to enjoy the exhibition. We also took the opportunity to go out and capture some of those street moments that always catch our attention, which is exactly what we did before and after the event.

The naval models caught my attention immediately. The craftsmen who build these RC boats are true artists. They are replicas of real ships with such an impressive level of detail that, when seen up close and from the right angle, I honestly believe many people would see nothing but a real ship in the photograph.

Watching them navigate was also a beautiful experience. And as a way to close the summer, it was an extraordinary spectacle for the children and young people who were there.

Hace unos días pude asistir a una muestra de modelos navales a control remoto que se realizó en el Castillo de la Real Fuerza, en La Habana Vieja. Para la exhibición se utilizaron los antiguos fosos de agua que antaño servían como barrera defensiva ante posibles ataques al fuerte. Hoy, esos mismos espacios fueron el escenario de una preciosa demostración de modelos navales, algunos de ellos, como verán, con un nivel de detalle espectacular.

Mi amigo @muhammadhalim me insistió durante días para que nos viéramos allí y disfrutáramos de la muestra. También aprovechamos para salir un rato a capturar esos momentos de la calle que tanto nos llaman la atención, algo que hicimos antes y después del evento.

Los modelos navales me llamaron muchísimo la atención. Los artesanos que construyen estos barcos RC son verdaderos artistas. Son imitaciones de barcos reales con un nivel de detalle que, vistos de cerca y desde el ángulo adecuado, creo que sin temor a equivocarme que muchos no verían otra cosa en la fotografía que un barco real.

Verlos navegar también fue muy bonito. Y como cierre del verano, fue un espectáculo extraordinario para los niños y jóvenes que allí se encontraban.

Espero que disfruten las fotos. A mí me encantó asistir al evento.
