Four runs this week, since last Wednesday, bit out of sync posting these!
Headed out to my local park and started off easy, building up to four times proper pace 420 metres (that's the approximate length of the circuit) and then 4 times 200 after - one of them was an abandoned attempt at a fast KM, just wasn't up to it!
My usual 'not the park run' route - did a good 2KM warm up first. I thought I was taking it easy to start, but looking at the pace of the first KM that's pretty fast me, so no wonder I was hanging on at the end!
Not a bad time, not my best, but reasonable!
I'm trying to build up my long runs into a half marathon - aiming for the end of May.
I take the first half pretty easy and then up the pace just a little for the last half.
I find my legs start to struggle after about 12Ks, hopefully they'll adapt!
The first 3Ks were really a warm up, and then you've got some modified 30-20-10s - I jogged one side of my local park, then ran a medium building to a fast pace of the next side, then repeated that 5 times, then walked for 2 mins, then repeated the whole lot another 2 times.
It makes for some pretty patterns on the tracker!
This felt OK!
I'll aim for maybe one easy run on Thursday, a not the Park Run and then up my long run to 15.5Ks.
I'm also going to add a Kilometre to each of my sessions, in the warm up phase to try and get me more used to distance.
