Only two runs since my last update, two runs the same, as I'm now in full internal-injury recovery mode.
It sounds bad, doesn't it, but I'm just exaggerating, it's only a groin strain, and it's gradually getting better!
I've hit on a baseline form-maintenance schedule of two runs every four days, or one run, then three days off, then another, so I got out this morning (Weds) with my previous run being last Saturday.
This means I'm not quite doing two runs a week, but it feels about right, my injury was much less noticeable today than it was on Saturday, or the previous Tuesday, or the preceding Friday before that - you see, running every fourth day really messes up yer days!
The real test for the last two runs has been to stay disciplined and not up my pace too much, and stick to a basic 4K route, with some walking at first, so I'm only really jogging 3 Ks at a time - now I know I'm not going to get worse doing this, I'm comfortable sticking with it.
My challenge is that I naturally want to go faster, as you'll see from the differences below... same run, slightly faster pace, when I was trying not to!
Still, I feel fine!
This is now standard, 400 metres two times to warm up, little walks inbetween, then 3Ks running, just to limit the strain on the groin! It's just enough - 20 mins total, to stop my form collapsing completely!
There's no point uploading last Saturday's run - you can see here it's a mirror of today's, but today's was 33 seconds faster.
Hmmm, I'm not that impressed with myself - I was trying to go slow, I need to watch this!
I know the way injury recovery works, the healing tends to speed up, so I reckon another couple of weeks of this, then I can get back to two runs a week, and then maybe by July I can start upping the pace properly on one run, the distance on another, then mid-July maybe back up to three runs, keeping the third nice and easy for a while!
We'll see, slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.
