Yesterday being the 31st of December, I started getting the new year feeling especially when it started approaching midnight. This means that we are about to get into the new year and new year has this way of getting me worried because I analyze my life to know how great I have come. I try to analyze and most times I end up getting myself unnecessarily sad, instead of appreciating things in my life, I end up getting myself sad for things I don’t have. This feeling was about to slowly overwhelm me again yesterday, while having the feeling, I had a quick pause to reflect back on my life.

I actually have a lot to be grateful for last year, I have my mental health to be grateful for, I have my wonderful family to be grateful for, I have my friends to be grateful, I have Hive to be grateful for and most importantly I have good health to be grateful for. I have noticed that I have great immune system and that’s an underrated privilege I have never valued the importance of good health until when I watched my sister get terribly sick in 2020. She was so sick, we were scared, she was literally going to hospital every day and spending a lot of money for medical bills. She did multiple scans, took many medications including injections, I felt so sorry for her.

While reflecting and learning to be grateful, I started having some new year scares like trying to have an imagination of what this year would be like. That moment of trying to have some expectations, then I had a slight feeling of scare, the feeling was “what if it doesn’t happen like you expected it to”. So I decided to have an open mind for this year.

Reminding your self to be open minded to life while making plans is one great way to have a wonderful life and prevent yourself from being sad all the time. If you learn to adapt to whatever life throws at you, you will find yourself making lots of lemonades out of lemons. You can turn what seems to be impossible into lots of possibilities having an open mind.

So I have decided to enjoy the life, the process and the experience this year is going to throw at me. This way I sleep better and don’t expect too much, but that doesn’t mean I won’t plan, because am a planner, it guildes me and puts me on check.

Talking about having an open mind and enjoying the process, I will be going out more and be blogging a lot about my environment, which is Lagos. You will be seeing a lot about Lagos from my post, I hope you love them. I will be giving you the feel of living in Lagos and I hope I deliver these contents well. Whenever I go outside to take pictures for a post, I end up getting scared or worrying about my phone getting snatched. 😂 Lagos is quite rough because of the population so being vigilant is a skill you need to posses.

Engagements is another thing I need to emphasize on, am really busy most times between mentoring new Hivers, creating post, engaging on social media, replying post comment, I don’t engage up to my satisfaction. I want my engagement on Hive to be so great that you will see me contributing in a lot of people’s post. I’m not going to spam, that’s enough cringe for me.

My onboarding activity is quite good, but I need to do better. I try to keep up with my onboarded members, I call them to check up on them, I try to create a bond with them to make them comfortable, sometimes it’s exhausting because some of these people am onboarding write a lot, so they are always calling for suggestions. This year I will look for a way to manage them better so they can be great Hive bloggers. It’s not going to be an easy task but am sure it’s going to worth it.
