My children often ask me a question that if the school, college, or university we attend leaves an impact for our future careers and success. I believe it matters if someone wants to have a good career, basically it depends on the person. If someone who is not very much career focused then they can't make much use of the opportunities. People who has willingness to study hard with dedication, they can use that knowledge in their life.

In the present time my age is 50+ years and I have my own family. If I think about the past, I can already realize that my school and college life has shaped me in life. My father died when I during my school life, the teachers of my school they supported me a lot. They paid for my education, because they knew I had dedication for learning. They encouraged me and helped me to become a responsible person.

I made friends who were always there for me no matter what, they also taught me how to do teamwork, they taught me how to respect everyone, and learn friendship. In a way they helped me to become a better person. When my father was alive, I was very irresponsible and did not care that much about anyone. People learn from their surroundings and I did the same. I learned many ethical things from my school and college life.

However, I did not enjoy the journey of my university. I was surrounded by wrong people and the teachers always felt like they're my rivals. I could not change my university because of financial problems. Every day felt like suffocation. I was unable to focus on my studies because of the bad environment, most of my classmates were bullies. They did not bully me but they used to do that to my other classmates. It was very painful to watch. So, if it was possible to go back in time would I change my school or university? Then I would choose my university. I think my life could be much better if I was in a well known or a reputed university.

Even though the experience of university was not that good, but it enlightened my thoughts,that if I change university in the past that might have given me different opportunities, but it might also have changed the path that led me to my current life. I would not change everything. Because the people I met and the lessons I have learned were all part of my journey, it doesn't matter if it was bad or good.

Also, I think that success does not fully depend on the name of a school or university. I have few friends, who couldn't afford to get admissions into private reputed university so they took admission into the local university which was not that well known at all. Even though they have studied in an ordinary university they have successfully achieved their goals. But most of my friends who graduated from famous universities they could not achieve their goals. So, personal effort matters a lot.

In the end, the institution does matter but the future is in your hand. If you make right decisions then it can determine your future. The most important road to success is to study hard and work hard, if a person does not have willingness to keep learning throughout life, then the path of achieving goals will be far away from him. So, the name of any school or university is not that much of important.
