🦉 The Ural owl (Strix uralensis)

📚 Strix strigis (lat.) owl; strideo (lat.) to hiss, whistle
📚 uralensis Uralic

These cute owls, also known as "long-tailed" owls, appear in the forests from about the middle or end of October. At this time, they have a nomadic period. It is not easy to notice them, even despite their eye-catching light plumage in the midst of the monochromatic brown scale of the late autumn forest.

The bird sits motionless on a branch or tree stump and either looks out for prey in the form of small rodents, or rests or even sleeps.
Most often I noticed them in the area of the ravine, where a small stream of the river flows. Every year I come to this place at this time, and very often one owl is on the hillside.
