🦉 The black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)

Last month I posted a video about this woodpecker. And now it's the turn of these photos.
Then for the first time I saw how this woodpecker eats berries. Yes, I have seen this before, from smaller woodpeckers, and now I know for sure that this type of woodpecker is not averse to tasting berries.

Mostly, these woodpeckers feed on insects, namely those that live in the bark of trees, as well as large ants. And only with the advent of cold weather, in autumn, like other wintering sedentary birds, they can add plant foods to their diet.
