These birds are big lovers of open spaces, so they can be found in fields, meadows, clearings. And even on the small edges of the forests, if only there were tall grass and an open space without trees.
They arrive from winter quarters in early May, and immediately start building a nest. The nest is built by the female, while the male sits on a stiff stalk of tall grass and inspects his territory. The nest itself is located on the ground in the grass, and is created from dry stems, blades of grass, and is lined with soft materials such as moss, down, feathers and wool.
