Northern birds living in the very north of the countries of Eurasia, in the taiga and forest tundra. But with the advent of winter, these birds move far to the south in large flocks, from which they can be found in forests and occasionally city parks.
Like all birds of this family (finches), in summer and late spring they feed on insects, and in the rest of the year they feed on seeds. And late in autumn and winter you can see how these birds tumble and gut birch catkins.
