Bullfinches live mainly sedentary, while in the cold season these birds unite in small flocks. With the advent of cold weather, they migrate to the south, and at this time they are very clearly visible in the midst of white snow and bare trees.
These birds feed mainly on plant foods. Seeds, nuts. But insects are added to the diet of nestlings, as they need protein.
These guys in the photo, and this is a female and a male, I met in mid-October. The male saw an ash-leaved maple bush and ate the seeds. And the female was content with seeds from rowan berries.
