This species of flycatcher is characterized by an interesting combination of individual polymorphism and sexual dimorphism. Females are colored the same. And males are of seven types of color, of which one extreme type is the most contrasting. Another extreme type of coloration is grayish-brown, outwardly very similar to the female. Between these extreme types there is a number of 5 transitional ones, with varying degrees of contrast. And in order not to confuse the light male from the female, you should pay attention to the white spots above the beak.
