At the beginning of spring, around the 20th of April, when the snow had almost melted, I decided to visit the forest near the river.
I saw a small chipmunk digging around a log and looking for something edible in the thawed leaves.
Seeing me, he climbed a tree, but continued to do his business.
He began to eat something, holding it in his paws. And he ate what he found earlier and hid in his huge cheeks.
It is difficult to say what exactly he ate, I am sure that it was young tree buds, as well as plant seeds, and most likely seeds and nuts that he found near bird feeders.
