🦉 The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus)

  • The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus)

These brightly colored birds attract attention in the spring, when, after winter migrations, they break up into small flocks and pair off, and the male vocalizes loudly. Getting close to him is difficult, as the bird is shy, and even if lured by sound, the male will pay attention, but will remain wary and at a distance.

I know some bird lovers keep siskins as pets in cages. Incidentally, siskins are recommended for beginners because they are easy to care for. They have a beautiful voice, and they eat almost exclusively plant-based food.
