🦉 The redwing (Turdus iliacus)

• Turdus (Latin) thrush
• iliacus ilia (lat.) sides, iliacus with sides (i.e. with red sides)

We call this thrush "white-browed". The name of this thrush speaks for itself, it is easy to recognize by its bright white eyebrow. It arrives early, already in mid-April, often together with fieldfares.

As I have said many times, thrushes have their own "brotherhood". When danger arises, for example when a predator appears, they make crackling sounds and call the others. And then other thrushes join them and attack the enemy together. If it is an fly predator, they attack it with their beak and claws. If it is a ground predator, they bombard it with excrement.
