🦉 The western yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava)

• Motacilla lat .: mōto, mōtare move continuously, -cilla tail (cilla like a tail - only in ornithology, erroneous established name)
• flava flavus (lat.) yellow, gold, golden yellow

It is difficult not to notice this graceful, slender bird - its bright yellow belly is striking even among the summer grass, and in the spring it is very visible in the middle of the monochromatic ground.

The main feature of the birds of this family is the endless swaying of the long tail, as if the bird had small springs instead of legs. Why they (and some species of sandpipers) do this is still unclear. The most plausible version says that this is how the bird maintains balance. After all, this bird moves not by jumping, but by running.
